Director of Development
Carolyn Ricci joined the Melanoma Research Alliance as Director of Development in 2019. In this role she works closely with the MRA Board of Directors and the President and CEO to develop and achieve annual fundraising goals. Ms. Ricci is responsible for building and fostering a robust development program that includes major donors, events, industry partners, and corporate and community foundations. She maintains strong relationships with existing supporters, seeking to grow their investment, while expanding MRA’s donor base.
Ms. Ricci has more than 23 years of experience shaping innovative and high-impact responses to significant societal issues, including cancer. Ms. Ricci comes to MRA after founding and serving as president of the Uplift Institute, where she advised executive leadership teams on strategy, partnerships, and development and implementation of programs. Past work has included generating solutions for patients facing metastatic cancer and developing thought leadership, sponsorship, and fundraising platforms. Prior to Uplift, Ms. Ricci was the director of program at the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade where she led strategy, grantmaking, and programmatic operations. In this role she oversaw up to $40 million in annual giving aimed at improving breast cancer outcomes and reducing disparities in survival rates. She developed and implemented communication strategy for Crusade activities; informational and education tools for donors, sponsors, applicants, and beneficiaries; and impact documents for media outreach and dissemination. Prior to Avon, Ms. Ricci spent 9 years at the Community Foundation of New Jersey where she worked as Director of Donor Services.
Ms. Ricci earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Drew University in Madison, NJ.
