MRA's Eighth Annual Scientific Retreat

FDA Commissioner Rob Califf (R) with MRA Board and Staff

The Melanoma Research Alliance convened its Eighth Annual Scientific Retreat on February 24-26, 2016, in Washington, DC. The MRA retreat is an invitation-only event and has become one of the most vital gatherings of the stakeholders in the field of melanoma research, fostering collaboration by facilitating early sharing of data in a highly interactive forum.

Participants included leading scientists from the United States and abroad, as well as senior leadership from non-profit foundations, government agencies, industry, and other like-minded organizations. Leading experts from across the melanoma research continuum engaged in discussions of cutting-edge research results from MRA-funded programs as well as on topics of special interest.

It was truly an exciting time for the melanoma community. Recent breakthroughs underscore remarkable progress that has been unfolding in the nine years since the founding of MRA. With more than $79 million awarded to 198 projects worldwide, MRA catalyzed strategic and collaborative research efforts. The MRA Retreat celebrated this progress and brought together leading stakeholders to maintain the momentum in the melanoma field.
