We’ve always believed the most efficient way to finding a cure for melanoma is by directing as much grants funding as possible to the best and most innovative research. The MRA Scientific Advisory Panel and Grant Review Committee identifies and evaluates cutting-edge research to ensure our dollars will have the most impact possible.
Annual grants awarded by MRA allow our scientists to pursue groundbreaking research leading to new treatments, new methods of prevention and early detection, and new insights into melanoma. We support investigations with the potential for rapid clinical application and understand the importance of supporting projects in all stages of development, including much-needed seed money. This enables our researchers to generate the data necessary to compete successfully for federal funding and to leverage and secure additional funds from other foundations and government agencies.
We’re committed to the highest degree of fundraising efficiency as the highest-rated melanoma research charity in the U.S. and as the largest private, non-profit, non-governmental funder of breast cancer research in the world.
Our founders, Debra and Leon Black, generously underwrite 100% of MRA’s operating and administrative expenses so that the maximum amount of dollars is directed to research.
By donating to MRA, contributors know that their support will go to melanoma research and patient engagement and education programs. Every gift makes an impact. We’re honored to be the recipient of gifts from all donors.
We are proud to be recognized by independent organizations that monitor charities for our unique approach to fundraising and awarding money to breast cancer research and awareness programs including:
